The Empire of Calum's Cactus has grown
On the night of 02/05/08, our Empire expanded! We occupied a second cactus on my windowsill and are looking for more cactus' to join with us. This is a great achievment seeing as our country only started 2 days earlier.
Maybe one day, our empire will expand to be as big as the picture on the left.
Since then, the empire has allowed citizens' cacti to be part of the empire. The empire now contains 11 cacti.
Money!
Calum's Cactus has created its own money. They are called Sarras and Sonnas. There are 100 Sonnas to a Sarra. An example of a 10 Sarras note is shown to the right and a 5 Sonnas coin shown below. The conversion rate with the British pound is 1:2 (1 Pound is worth 2 Sarras)
Calum's Cactus can safely say that it is the only country worldwide that's economy has not been affected by the credit crunch. Although this is mainly due to the fact that it's money isn't yet used anywhere.
Birthday celebrations!!
Calum's Cactus has reached it's first anniversary. It seems like only a day has past since I first started this country and my first two citizens joined (Matt Ager and Bobby Bailey).
It has been an eventful year: A grand total of 147 totally brilliant citizens accepted to join, Four alliances were born (each one as immensley great and altogether cool as the others), The empire expanded to contain 11 fully plant potted cacti, The country was invited and then not accepted into the United Micronations for my failure to fill in the form correctly (I think I'm entitled to say that our country owns land, they didn't say that it wasn't allowed to be in a plant pot), The country failed to enter Eurovision, although I must say they were very polite in telling me that I wasn't King of a 'real' country, The phantom facebook user of 'Calums Cactuss' (yes, with two s') was made (not by me, I have been on the hunt to find out who it is, but am yet to be succesfull. If you have any information please let me know as quickly as possible)

Population Milestone!!
On the 01/07/08 the population of Calum's Cactus reached 50! A great acheivement, although still a long way before we catch up with the least populated official country (Vatican City with 920)
Was going to wait till we reach 100 before announcing the next population milestone, but it's taking a while so we'll do one at 75. On the 08/10/08 the population reached 75! Only another 845 to go :)
At last!!! The population of Calum's Cactus has reached 100!! On the 06/12/08 Ben Borg became the 100th citizen, but a big thanks has to go to all of the other 99 citizens also. GO CITIZENS GO!!
